TERMS OF SERVICE

All orders require a nonrefundable deposit, the remainder is due before delivery can be scheduled. No items will be delivered until the order total is paid in full. If you choose to cancel your order your deposit will not be refunded. All furniture is started on immediately after the deposit is paid, the deposit amount is non-refundable for any orders canceled after the deposit has been made. All custom orders are nonrefundable. We do however reserve the right to cancel your order at any time. If we elect to cancel your order, you will receive a full refund of any amount paid toward your original purchase.

Turnaround time is based on our current schedule. Once your delivery date is set, your furniture will be delivered on that date unless the delivery scheduled is affected by unforeseen circumstances such as poor weather conditions that make driving impossible.  A delay in delivery is not cause for a refund.  It is the responsibility of our clients to review all estimates and orders to make certain that all the information listed pertaining to your order is correct. This information includes dimensions, tabletop style, type of legs, and other options available. Unless requested and noted by your purchase order, your items will be built to our standard specifications. We do allow paint and stain colors to be submitted up to two weeks prior to pick up/delivery. If you decide to change the dimensions on any piece of your order, we can't guarantee that we can accommodate the changes. If we are able to accommodate the changes or not depends on whether that specific piece has been built. If it has been built, you will be charged the cost of materials plus labor for the work already done on the original piece. If you do not receive an updated purchase order with the changes added, it means we, for whatever reason, did not receive your request. All change requests must be made in writing and may require an additional deposit.

We will allow a grace period of up to two weeks for the storage of furniture.  Your final payment is due upon receipt of the final invoice. Failure to pay the final invoice within seven days of receipt will result in a forfeiture of deposit and the furniture will be sold to recoup building costs.  We cannot store furniture for extended periods of time.

Our tables are delivered by third party freight companies.  They are not directly employed by Boardman Co Woodworks.  If damage to your property occurs by the freight companies you will need to contact them directly for insurance information.  If you need their contact information we can issue a business name and phone number.  Please understand that our delivery is Curbside only unless you pay for the addition of white glove.  This means you are taking on the liability of having furniture brought into your home.  We are not liable for any damages caused while bringing the items inside the home or to any of your property during delivery.

Wood contraction and expansion

Solid wood breathes and will move at different times of the year in response to the equilibrium moisture content (EMC) in your home for which we are not responsible.  A dry home will cause the wood to move or crack more than a home with proper humidity.  You may notice a board move or develop small cracks during these seasonal shifts.  Wood contraction (common in dry environments) may cause old cracks to open more so and can also cause a small break or chip in the finish. While we seal all our products on all sides, to prevent this from occurring, wood movement is a natural occurrence that can be remedied easily at home with some simple, easy to apply products.  If you are having any solid wood product transported in the drier, colder months it’s advisable to install a humidifier temporarily in the area to ease the wood into its new environment.

Breadboard Ends

Breadboard ends are a centuries-old technique that was originally used to prevent warping and cracking of wide planks. Given new techniques, breadboard ends are now an option rather than a necessity. Throughout the year, you may notice that the breadboard ends extend beyond the rest of the tabletop. This is normal as they are performing their intended function and are not defective. As moisture returns to the air, the breadboard ends will once again be flush with the width of the table. If you decide not to have breadboard ends, it is common for there to be slight cracking on the end grain. This is normal and not considered a defect.

Troubleshooting

Fine cracks, cracked filler and any exposed wood resulting from wood movement can be filled easily with wood putty or can be remedied cosmetically with a stain stick, wax pen or colored paste wax.  All can be found easily in most hardware stores.

Care and Cleaning Recommendations

Be gentle on your furniture for the first 2 weeks after delivery or pick up. The polyurethane will be especially susceptible to scratches and intentions during this period. Avoid dusting with a dry or old cloth, this may scratch the finish. Dust gently with a soft damp cloth by following the wood grain. Clean up spills immediately. Avoid polish that contains ammonia or silicon. Never place hot or cold liquids/objects directly on finished surfaces. For tabletops, you can clean your table with warm, soapy water with a damp cloth, then buff dry. Liquid spills including but not limited to alcohol-based products should be wiped up immediately and not allow to sit on the wood surface for any length of time. Any damage done by products spilled, soiled or left on the table is not covered by warranty, but may be repairable. If interested in a repair, please contact us for a quote.
